President's Report - February 2023

Angela Rainey | Published on 2/2/2023

Members,

I am elated to be a member of the League of Women Voters as the League celebrates turning 103 on February 14, 2023! This year as we celebrate our birthday, LWVUS is inviting all Leagues to join in the celebration by attending a 11 ET/12 CT virtual pep rally. Click the link to register for the event.

Although the year has just started, looks like we are fully embracing it, and preparing for it to get even busier! We participated in the Texas 88th Legislative Interviews, conducting five interviews with various legislators. For those of you who supported our Legislative Interviews by calling, emailing, interviewing and submitting findings, I would like to thank you for your time and commitment.

We have received several grants to support our voter registration and services activities. We will be launching our 2023 Youth Voter Registration project within the next couple of weeks and partnering with local campuses to prepare young citizens to be voters in the local May 6 election, with early voting being conducted from April 24 - May 2. Please stay on the lookout for Vote411.org resource advertisements around Tarrant County.

Save the date, March 1st and watch for more specifics regarding our youth registration drive at TCC.  If you signed up for lobby days, stay on the look out for training emails and we will see you there!

Our goal is to help every eligible citizen become an informed and active participant in the upcoming general election. We are planning and partnering with other organizations to host candidate forums and have voter education initiatives. There will be several opportunities to support these projects.

Stay tuned, and contact us when you are ready to jump in!
